AUTHOR and historian Les Bond presented prizes to St John’s Church Sunday School children at a service held on Sunday.
The youngsters were each given a book as a prize for taking part in the service, held at St Christopher’s High School.
Mr Bond, a former pupil of St John’s School and a church choirboy, spoke at the packed service about his passion for the church.
Mr Bond, 61, of Ascot Way, Accrington, also gave details of his Pals-themed CD On A Summer’s Morning in France, which includes music, readings and extracts from soldiers’ letters.
It was put together by Mr Bond and fellow-historian Nick Caffrey of Accrington and is being sold in aid of the ASPIRE campaign.
All the youngsters took toys to the service and they will be distributed by Rotary.
On the day there were also various stalls and total of £360 was raised.
