World famous sweet firm Stockley’s has broken its link with Hyndburn, after announcing its factory is to move out of Oswaldtwistle Mills.
The firm, synonymous with confectionery classics including Cinder Toffee and Dandelion and Burdock herbal sweets, was sold across the Pennines to Yorkshire firm Morris and Son (Leeds) Ltd last October.
The deal safeguarded 38 jobs after the business had entered administration with parent company Mr Lucky Bags Ltd.
But now bosses say the manufacturing side of the business is to relocate to larger premises in Shadsworth, although a Stockley’s shop and a ‘visitor experience’ will remain within the Mills.
Managing director Phil Lawson said: “We will retain the presence in the Mills, which is a bonus for all concerned.”
