Star Wars fan Neil Livesey hopes an event he’s organised to celebrate the film will be out of this world.

The Rishton fanatic has organised his annual fan fun day, which will take place in Burnley on May 3.

It follows on from last year’s successful ‘May the 4th Be With You’ get together at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, in Clayton-le-Moors.

And fans are in for a treat as the event will feature a visit from Darth Vader himself, actor Dave Prowse, who played the iconic character in the Star Wars films.

It will be the largest assembling of cast members ever seen in the north west, including Jeremy Bullock, who played bounty hunter Bobba Fett and storm-trooper Alan Fling. There will also be stalls selling memorabilia, a fancy dress competition and a chance to collect autographs from the stars.

Neil said: "This is the second time we have done it at this venue. Last year it was a great success, with around 1,100 people turning up and we had five guests from the films.

"This year it should be even bigger and better with 11 people from the films, with the big coup being Dave Prowse, the ultimate movie villain of all time."

He added: "Star Wars is absolutely huge. You have fans who are interested in original trilogy, fans like me who are interested in anything to do with Star Wars and, of course, the younger generation who are watching the Clone Wars and are interested in that.

"The way we push the day focuses not just on hard-core Star Wars fans, but also families with young kids so we will have a face-painter there, a laser-tag game and, lots of stalls selling toys. That is why it is a fun day rather than a convention and there will be costumed characters like Chewbacca, Jedi Knights and Darth Vader walking around."

Admission is £5 for adults, £2.50 for children.it will be held at Burnley Football Club from 10.30am to 4pm.
