An Oswaldtwistle butchers ensured an annual charity walk went with a bang-er when they provided sausage breakfasts for over 600 participants and volunteers.

The Strictly Starlight Walk, organised by East Lancashire Hospice, turned Blackburn streets into a sea of red tutus and flashing headgear as the ladies completed a five or eight-mile sponsored walk, raising money for patient care.

On crossing the finish line, participants received a medal and sausage sandwiches, with the bangers donated by Whittakers Butchers on Union Road.

A grand total of over £36,531 was pledged in sponsorship, which was raised entirely by the ladies taking part.

Whittakers’ fundraising endeavours for the hospice have already topped the £10,000 mark, as they collect donations from customers all year round, as well as donating items for events such as the Starlight Walk.
