A taxi driver was robbed by two customers after they got into his car.

Police said two male offenders directed the driver to stop on India Street in Accrington and then used ‘some sort of bat’ to smash the driver’s door, before demanding money from him.

They then opened the driver’s door and removed loose change from the door pocket before the driver drove away and the offenders fled.

The incident happened at around 1.10am on Saturday, August 22.

A 16-year-old male from Great Harwood has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody for questioning.
