A teenager was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly following reports of a rubbish fire in a back garden of a Huncoat home.
Fire crews soon put the "nuisance" fire out within the property on Within Grove at 1.40am this morning.
Police then turned up and arrested a 17-year-old boy at the scene on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly before issuing him with a fixed penalty notice.
A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Hyndburn described it as a nuisance fire. We passed it on to police and they dealth with the matter at the scene."
Lancashire Constabulary said the boy was arrested but then given a fixed penalty notice.
