A 17-year-old boy walking home from work was punched in the head during an attempted robbery in Accrington.

The incident happened on Monday, March 7 at around 12:20pm in a back alley at the back of Princess Street.

The victim was walking home when he was approached by a man who punched him in the head and pushed him against a fence shouting “money, money”.

The boy did not have any money on him and the offender made off with nothing down the alley.

Detective Inspector Claire Holbrook is appealing for witnesses after the incident.

She said: “I would appeal to anyone who recognises the description of the offender to come forward and contact police. I would also be keen to hear from anyone who perhaps witnessed the incident to get in touch.

“Although not hurt the victim has been left shaken following his ordeal and the person responsible needs to be caught.”

The lone offender is described as Asian, between 18 and 30, around six-foot tall and well built.

He had a beard and was wearing a dark blue hooded top with two light stripes, dark pants and footwear.
