A cannabis factory worth £24,000 has been discovered in Accrington after an anonymous tip-off.

Police raided a house in Stanley Street on Friday and found 61 plants in the loft.

Lighting, fans and cultivation equipment were also seized.

A 29-year-old man was interviewed regarding cultivating cannabis and has been released pending further enquiries.

PC Martin Midgley said: "A small loft hatch in the back bedroom led us to find the cannabis plants which were all in the early stages of growth.

"I hope people are reassured that we do listen to their concerns and will take action.

"Enquiries continue and I urge anyone with information or concerns about cannabis in their neighbourhood to contact us."
