Tools worth more than £2,000 were stolen from the inside of a white Mercedes van in Accrington yesterday.

The theft occured between 7.45am and 3.26pm on Tampits Road while the victim repaired a house nearby.

Sargeant Simon Holderness from Accrington Police Station, said: "The victim has been working nearby doing house repairs.

The offender has punctured the sliding door lock with a screwdriver and stolen a generator, a tool safe - which apparently is a two-man lift - and tools, all together worth £2,500 in total. We found drag marks on the pavement which suggests the items have been dragged to the offenders vehicle nearby."
