A SEMI-naked two-year-old tot was found wandering alone on a busy Rishton road.
The little girl was walking along Hermitage Street, wearing only boots and a red-hooded top back to front, on Wednesday afternoon.
It is thought she had walked around 100 metres before she was found by resident David Haworth, who was out walking with his wife.
He said: "We were shopping when we saw a young girl on her own. As we got nearer she began toddling towards my wife with her hands outstretched as if she wanted picking up.
"We knocked on doors but nobody knew who she belonged to. We were concerned for her safety as cars fly up and down Hermitage Street. If she had stumbled into the road things could have been very different."
The couple alerted the police who took the tot to Blackburn Police Station. House-to-house inquiries located her mum.
A police spokesman said: "I can confirm a two-year-old girl was found wandering alone in Hermitage Street. Officers attended the scene to collect the child and to conduct house-to-house inquiries.
"As far as we are aware the little girl was in the care of an older sibling and managed to open the door and wander out."
The child’s mum refused to comment yesterday.
