Members of Great Harwood Otters Swimming Club were joined by town crier Rawden Kerr.

Mr Kerr proclaimed that the youngsters are looking forward to great things all year, in and out of the pool, when he joined the youngsters at a Wednesday night training session.

Rawden is town crier for Great Harwood and helped start the Otters’ new season off with a roof raising bell ringing proclamation.

Holding with tradition he cried ‘Oyez- Oyez’ and rang his official town crier’s bell before reading his proclamation.

Joyce Miller, the Otters secretary, said it had been a great surprise for swimmers.

She added: “Rawden really got the attention of all our swimmers, who thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the hip-hip hoorays, they all got to ring the official bell and thankfully we didn’t drop it in the pool. We were very pleased and honoured to have Rawden the Town Crier visit our Otter club home.”
