A BOOMING online travel firm needs 50 people to fill call centre vacancies.

Travel company Sitel based at The Globe Centre, Accrington is hosting an open Friday 3 April to recruit new employees.

The firm said the jobs are a sign of its strength despite the recession, and have been created thanks to Sitel’s partnership with travel giant Expedia.

Marianne Fitzjohn, managing director of Sitel Northern EMEA, said: "We are scouring the local labour market for the best talent in the travel industry.

"We know that there is uncertainty within other travel reservation centres in the area and believe the lure of the world‘s largest online travel brand servicing its clients from the North West and our reputation for providing excellent working conditions will help us fill the remaining vacancies."

Sitel took over the premises in St James Square last November and has already recruited 110 staff.

Karl Marriot, VP Operations Europe at Expedia, said: "Out partnership with Sitel forms part of our global strategy to deliver world-class customer experience to our discerning and intrepid client base. We actively invite travellers to contact us before, during and after their trips, hence our reason for working with Sitel.

"I would encourage job seekers with an interest in travel to visit our centre on Friday and I’m looking forward to welcoming the new recruits in the coming months."

The open day will give interested candidates are invited to meet with advisers, team managers, take a tour of the centre and pick up information packs.

Visit between 9am to 11am, 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.
