A family have paid tribute to a motorcyclist who died in a road accident.

Kevin Donaghue, 46, from Clayton-le-Moors was travelling along Higher Ramsgreave Road in Blackburn when its thought he lost control of his Kawasaki bike and was in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf around 4.40pm on Monday, January 2.

In a statement his family said: “Kevin was a thoughtful man who was much loved by all. He will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Doug Gent from the Coggheads Motorcycle Club said: “He was someone that we knew from around the biking scene.

“I heard about it this morning when my wife saw it on Facebook. It’s very sad what has happened.”

After the incident Mr Donaghue was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with multiple injuries but sadly died a short time later.

The road was closed for four hours after the incident.

PS Tracey Ward of the Road Policing Team said: “This is a tragic loss for the family of the Mr Donaghue who are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time. I am keen to speak to anyone that may have been travelling along Higher Ramsgreave Road at the time of the incident, and any information they may have could help us to establish exactly how this collision occurred.”
