Friends and relatives have paid tribute to a ‘truly beautiful’ former Great Harwood mum who died suddenly in Spain last year.

Miette I’Anson-Hughes died on September 7 after suffering a heart attack in her Madrid home, aged 37.

Tomorrow (Saturday) friends and family will remember the former teacher at a special memorial service at at St Bartholomews Church in Great Harwood.

Brother Maelor, who lives in Accrington, said: "She had lived in Majorca for quite a few years but moved Madrid about 18 years ago. She was a truly beautiful person taken from us too quickly. I will love you forever sis."

Her dad David said: "I am so proud for all she stood for in her short life."

Miette grew up in Great Harwood and attended Norden High School. She then left Hyndburn when she was 21. She was a talented artist, enjoyed drawing and painting.

She leaves her daughter Jazzmyn, mum Margaret and step dad Harry, dad David and step mum Sue, partner Hector and step son Emanuele, brother Maelor and sister-in-law Katrina, nephew Keaton-James, niece Rebecca, sister Rhian and brother-in-law Chris, nephews Elliott and Jensen, sisters Sarah, and brother-in-law Rob, niece Kaiya and nephew Oliver, brother Stevie, sister-in-law Jayne, niece Lola and nephew Nathan.

Tomorrow’s memorial service starts at St Bartholomew’s at 12.30pm and will be followed by some drinks at the Peel Park Hotel, in Turkey Street.
