Primary school pupils from Huncoat had a chance to learn about all things chocolatey during a trip to Cadbury World.

The Year 6 pupils from Huncoat Primary School visited the Birmingham centre to see first hand how chocolate is made and they enjoyed a few sweet treats as well.

The pupils had been learning about the ancient civilization the Aztecs and how they invented chocolate more than 3,100 years ago after discovering cocoa beans.

Mollie Heap, head girl at the school, said the trip was one of the many activities that make the school great.

The 10-year-old added: “What makes our school special is all the teachers deliver exciting lessons. In Year 6 this year we went to Cadbury World in Birmingham and had a week of outdoor fun at Hothersall Lodge.”

Pupils in Year 4 visited Blackpool Zoo to learn more about the rainforest last month as part of the school’s commitment to learning outside the traditional classroom.

The Lynwood Road school was recently given a mark of ‘good’ by government inspectors Ofsted who praised the happy learning environment pupils encounter each day.
