Two men jailed for the murder of a convicted rapist have had their minimum terms cut by appeal judges.

Alan Lee Street, 26, from Accrington was beaten and stabbed at a house in Padiham in December 2008.

In October 2009 Peter Leonard, 53, of Oswaldtwistle, was jailed for a minimum of 28 years after he was found guilty of murder following a five week trial.

Allan Palmer, 46, of Stockbridge Road, Padiham, after pleading guilty to murder was given at least 25 years in prison.

Leonard's sentence was cut to 25 years on Wednesday and Palmer's was slashed to 20 years at the Court of Appeal in London.
