A woman has been detained under the Mental Health Act after threatening to jump off the Accrington Arndale Centre roof, just hours after a teenage woman plunged to her death from the same site.
Police were called to the area for the second time today at around 1.30pm to reports that a woman had reportedly climbed onto the ledge of the car park.
Officers managed to talk the 33-year-old woman down, and she has now been detained under the Mental Health Act.
The incident came only a few hours after a younger woman, believed to be in her late teens, died after plunging from the car park roof into the service area. Police are not treating her death as suspicious and do not believe the two incidents as linked.
Earlier, emergency services were called to the service yard of the Arndale Centre at around 10am.
Lancashire Police said the woman was in her 'late teens'.
