A VICAR has found true love for the second time after tying the knot with one of his parishioners following a whirlwind romance.

Hundreds of people turned out to see the Rev Kevin Logan, 63, wed his fiancee Ann Edmonds at his church, Christ Church, Accrington, on Wednesday.

Love blossomed between the pair after she went to advise Mr Logan on a colour scheme for the church while it was being repainted.

Within a very short time they decided to tie the knot - 18 months after Mr Logan's first wife Linda lost her battle against cancer.

Mr Logan said: "Both Ann and I are delighted to be married. We believe we are God's gift to each other as we have both been through hard times with our previous partners.

"I have known Ann for a long time but only as a parishoner. Neither of us were expecting this to happen but it just did.

"Within a very short time of seeing each other we had fallen in love and we both realised that something quite extraordinary was happening between us."

Mr Logan has a son Peter, daughter Cathryn and grandchildren Lois and Daniel while the new Mrs Logan has a son Russell, daughter Maxine and grandchildren Nathan, Naomi and Elliott. She works as a nursery nurse in Nelson.

The pair are set to spend a few days in Kendal for a honeymoon but will travel to Spain for a longer break later this year.

Mr Logan has also announced plans to take the church's youth club out to Tanzania to help at the Bethany Orphanage on the shores of Lake Victoria.

The couple asked wedding guests to donate money towards the African trip which is planned for the summer.

They also gathered surplus items from both their houses to be recycled and given back as wedding presents.

The wedding service was conducted by the Rev Nic Deane, who was formerly curate of Christ Church.
