VOTERS in Accrington's Spring Hill ward go to the polls in a Hyndburn Council by-election next Thursday.

VOTERS in Accrington's Spring Hill ward go to the polls in a Hyndburn Council by-election next Thursday.

It will be a straight fight between ex-councillor Munsif Dad of Monk Street, Accrington, for Labour and newcomer Michael Szewczuk of Chapel Street, Rishton, for the Tories.

The election in what is normally a Labour stronghold was triggered by the death of Councillor Edith Dunston, 82, who would have been this year's Mayor.
