Three sharks have been moved from an aquatics superstore in Clayton-le-Moors after the business was put up for sale.

Aquascope, which has been operating for more than 50 years, is one of the largest aquatics store in the region and its collection includes three blacktip reef sharks.

Administrators for the company approached Norfolk-based Seal Life to collect the three-foot long sharks, from the Burnley Road store on Monday.

The sharks, which were bought using investment from the TV programme Bank of Dave, will be re-homed to a 187,000 litre public display tank.

Owner Steve Punchard decided to stand down from the business after 12 years to concentrate on other business interests.

He is now working with consultants to find a buyer for the business who can take on the aquatic centre and its stock.
