BUBBLY Clayton-le-Moors woman Heidi Rogers this morning begins her fourth day of living in a plastic box in the middle of Manchester's Arndale Centre for a zany radio stunt.
Heidi, 28, of Pickup Street, was chosen from thousands of hopefuls to take part in Century FM's Living by the Book competition which carries a £2,000 prize.
She must live in the 2.5 square metre box, with a small toilet cubicle attached, for five days, with only a mobile phone and telephone directory for company. The idea is for her to use her charm and wit to meet challenges set by listeners and to persuade companies to give her things she needs. She has already managed to acquire a bed and TV for her new "home".
Heidi, who is competing against a Colwyn Bay man living in a similar box a few feet away, said: "I am quite an extrovert but my friends now think I am mad and going through a mid-life crisis."
