WORKERS at a Hyndburn furniture store face an uncertain future after their jobs were axed amid plans to transfer the business to Wigan.
Bosses at CSL Factory Superstore say the business has undergone rapid growth in the last few years with profits expected to be a whopping £50M next year.
But the success has come at a price as they say their base at Vine Mill, Brookside Street, Oswaldtwistle, can no longer meet their needs in the face of mounting demand.
One worker, who did not wish to be named, said: "We were told the mill was closing down and to re-apply for our jobs."
A spokesman for the firm said: "The only viable solution to satisfying the increase in demand for sofas from our company is by operating from a new building.
"This will provide the necessary space, facilities and resources to meet customer expectations.
"After making a company announcement in September, all affected employees were called to individual meetings to discuss the implications of the move and the options available to them.
"While we have been able to offer the majority of employees a post in the new location, it is with regret that 11 people have been made redundant.
"Due to the limited amount of work remaining at the site in Oswaldtwistle, those affected members of staff finished work last Friday.
"They have been provided with generous pay, over and above the requirement in order to support and aid them during the process of re-employment."
