THE boyfriend of teen singing sensation Diana Vickers has dismissed claims she is dating another X Factor contestant.

Student Chris Jones this week told the Observer he doesn’t believe 17-year-old Diana is seeing Eoghan Quigg, as has been reported in national tabloid newspapers.

Reports have ranged from the talent show stars canoodling in the X Factor house to cuddling up in a taxi and having jokey fights where they playfully push each other and mess up each other’s hair.

But Chris, 18, said he and Accrington girl Diana are still together and keeping things going as best they can.

Chris, an events management student at the University of Manchester, said: "I am not threatened by her friendship with Eoghan and will support her all the way.

"I travel down on Saturdays for the live shows. We have been going out together for eight months. We have a really close relationship and speak every day."

When reports first emerged about Diana’s alleged fling, Chris said he immediately phoned her to talk things through.

He said: "As soon as she said it was not true I believed her. Now I just try to ignore the reports."

Chris has even met 16-year-old Eoghan and said they got on really well.

Diana herself said she was simply close friends with the young Irish singer and added: "I am totally committed to Chris."

Meanwhile, Diana was back to her best in last Saturday night’s live show in which she progressed to the last five, singing Take That’s Patience.

Judge Louis Walsh said: "Diana, that is my favourite Take That song and what I liked about it is that you made it your own. You didn’t just copy the original."

Danni Minogue said: "Diana, you look the best that you have ever looked tonight, fantastic. It was so nice to see you happy at the end of the performance."

Take That star Gary Barlow had earlier told Diana: "If Simon Cowell doesn’t sign you, I would sign you tomorrow and I’m going to leave you my number."

But after her performance on Saturday Simon told Diana: "I absolutely adore you," and he pointed to the global success he has had with former winner Leona Lewis.

Simon added: "We will not be accepting Gary Barlow’s kind offer of a recording contract. Leona has done fine with me, thank you Gary."

Having recovered from laryngitis, Diana jumped for joy on stage at the end of her performance. She said: "I’m so happy and I’m so pleased that I’m here. I feel like I’m in the best dream ever and I just don’t want to wake up. I've had a taste of what life could be like for me and it’s amazing. This is what I want now."

Diana, who is still the bookies’ favourite to win the contest, and the other four remaining contestants will be singing two songs each on tomorrow night’s show.

One will be an American classic and the other a hit by Britney Spears who is scheduled to appear on the show.

The X Factor is on ITV at 7.35pm followed by the results show at 10.15pm.
