A trader is calling on the community to support an appeal to bring Christmas to Hyndburn families.

Dozens of toys and games have already been donated to Accrington Lions as part of the annual Christmas Toy Appeal, supported by the Accrington Observer.

People are being asked to donate toys and games over the festive season.

This year, Cheeky Duck Designs - which offers printing and embroidery services - is collecting donations. Owner Sara Taylor said she is delighted to be involved.

The mum-of-two said: “We have already had a few donations and hopefully we’ll get a lot more. Hyndburn is not an affluent area and there are a lot of surrounding areas where the kids can’t afford things like Playstations and things their friends have.

“Christmas can be very stressful for parents and they must feel awful if they can’t afford things. It must be so difficult to say no to their children.

“That’s why the toy appeal is so important.”

Toys can be dropped at Cheeky Duck Design, Unit 15, Richmond Industrial Estate, Accrington, next to the Globe Centre.

The Lions are asking for donations of new and nearly new toys and games by Monday, December 8. Please do not donate soft toys.

Donations can also be dropped at Pampered Pets, on Union Road, Oswaldtwistle; Acorn Community News, Oswaldtwistle and the Accrington Observer office in the Market Hall.

Alternatively, call Tracey on 07971 772168, Karen on 07961 026505 or May on 07806 093068.

If you could benefit from the toy appeal, call Maundy Relief on 01254 232328.
