Snooker stars Alex Higgins and John Spencer are shown in this week’s top picture.
They were snapped by former Observer photographer Garth Dawson in 1974.
Garth said: “Snooker demonstrations were held at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in 1974 arranged by Gilbraith’s Motors.
“The two professionals, John Spencer and Alex Higgins, appear in the centre of the group.”
Our next picture was also taken in 1974 and shows a group of women on a trip to Chaigley Manor. Garth said: “The picture shows a party of mothers lined up for a trip to Chaigley Manor holiday home for children.
"The Manor was in the country for the children to spend a week free of charge.”
Our final photograph this week was taken in January 1962.
Garth said: “Accrington Stanley were playing Colchester at the Peel Park ground on a very muddy pitch.”
