A lorry driver accused of ‘masterminding a plan’ to murder his ex-partner’s new boyfriend has been cleared by a court.

Kevin King, 31, walked free from Preston Crown Court after an eight-day trial having been found not guilty of conspiracy to murder.

The prosecution accused Mr King, of Lodge Lane, Lytham St Annes, of ‘hatching’ a plan to murder Accrington man Mark Walsh, but a jury rejected the claims.

Mark Walsh, 35, was shot with a shotgun at close range in an alleyway at the back of his home in Maudsley Street, Accrington at around 9pm on January 12, 2015.

Two other men have previously been convicted of conspiracy to murder and were jailed after a trial last year.
