The M65 has been closed in both directions after a HGV crashed into the central reservation.

The incident happened between J5 and J6 near Blackburn at around 10am on Saturday morning.

Highways England say the HGV crossed over from one side of the carriageway to another.

Around 100 metres of central reservation barrier damaged.

Lancashire Police tweeted: "We've closed the M65 between J5 & 6 in both directions after a HGV collided with the central reservation.

"This is whilst we investigate & work is undertaken to repair the barrier, it's likely to take some time. Pls avoid the area& plan your journeys accordingly."

It is not known at this stage if anyone has been injured.
