A man who was found dead in the Leeds-Liverpool Canal on Boxing Day has been named.

David Butler, 49, was found by a dog walker near Enfield Wharf in Clayton-le-Moors at around 9am on Saturday, December 26.

Lancashire Police launched an investigation and found his death was ‘non-suspicious’.

A file has been passed to the coroner and an inquest is expected to be opened at Blackburn Coroners Court on Thursday, January 7.
