A man is in hospital after suffering face and leg injuries after being attacked by two Staffordshire bull terriers.

Police were called to Fife Street in Accrington after being alerted by the 36-year-old victim’s wife.

Inspector John Fryer said he was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital and will require surgery.

He said: “This was a very nasty dog biting incident where a man on Fife Street was bitten by two Staffordshire bull terriers.

“He was bitten on the face, leg and side of the body and the injuries are quite nasty.

“He is in hospital now and is going to need surgery.”

The incident happened at around 8.25pm on Tuesday, March 24.

A 21-year-old man from Accrington has been arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control in a public place.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

The dogs have been seized by police.
