A collision left a man trapped in his car for nine hours with a broken leg and internal injuries.
Police say the collision is thought to have taken place at around midnight on Thursday, May 21 on Phillips Road, near Rishton, when a silver Vauxhall Corsa left the road and went into a ditch.
The male driver, 23, was stuck in the vehicle for approximately nine hours before he was discovered by a passing member of the public.
He was airlifted to hospital where he is receiving treatment for a broken leg and internal injuries. Police are appealing for information.
PC 2821 Mike Smith, of East Road Policing Unit, said: “Fortunately this man was discovered by a member of the public and was rescued from his car after spending a considerable amount of time in there.
“We are trying to establish just how the car came to be in the ditch and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and contact us.”
