More than 100 members of 1st Clayton-le-Moors (All Saints) Scout Group took part in a group camp trip at the Bowley International Scout Camp.
Claire Rothwell, group leader, said the weekend was ‘non-stop action’ and ‘packed was lots of activities’ including zorbing, raft building on the pond, zip lining, crate stacking, pioneering, leap of faith, pillow fighting, hiking, turf boarding and campfire cooking.
The youngsters also received a visit from Coopers Critters animal encounters company based at Aquascope in Clayton-le-Moors.
Claire said: “Scouts, Explorer Scouts and leaders took part in ‘Archery Encounter’ which is a cross between archery and paintball.
“It was definitely the highlight of their weekend. The sun shone all weekend and we were even lucky enough to have a fly over by a Vulcan Bomber on her last flight, having displayed at Southport Airshow.”
The Scouts have also organised a coffee and craft morning in conjunction with a Cub sponsored bike ride on Saturday, October 3 from 10.30am to 2pm at All Saints primary school.
It will include various stalls, a tombola and cakes and refreshments served by the “Cookie Monsters” Explorer Scout Unit who are raising money for a trip to Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland.
