A photography student met an idol in her chosen field - and now plans to follow in his footsteps.

Fine art photography student Rebekah Doyle, 19, pictured, from Oswaldtwistle, got to meet Professor Thomas Joshua Cooper on a recent visit to the Glasgow School of Art’s Fine Art Photography Department.

The former Mount Carmel pupil said the school of art’s founder was someone she admires greatly.

She said: “I felt so lucky. He is a genius in his field. He looked at my portfolio and took a lot of interest in what I was doing and my work and I have applied to go there.

“I went to look around but I sneaked in at a postgraduate day even though I didn’t qualify. I took my portfolio and just asked if I could show it to someone. I love fine art - my photos are vibrant and I also like photographing people.”

Now studying at Blackburn College, Rebekah is a recognised face at the Bridgewater in Darwen where she takes key ring photographs.
