Accrington Stanley has opened a new shop dedicated to the club and its fans in the Market Hall.

Lifelong supporter and former Lancashire and England cricketer David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd said he was ‘delighted’ to cut the ribbon earlier this week. The shop is a collaboration between the club and the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Club (OASSC) and will carry more stock than the small shop at the Wham Stadium including official merchandise, hard-to-find memorabilia.

David said the new shop, which is looking for volunteers, is “great”.

He added: “It brings it into the centre of town, with good passing trade, and will hopefully build more interest in the club and recruit more spectators.”

Fans can also buy match tickets, season tickets and programmes from the shop which will be open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm, and until 2pm on Wednesday.

Nick Westwell, OASSC chairman, said: “Bringing the club shop into the indoor market, right at the heart of Accrington’s bustling town centre, will make it more accessible to a wider range of people.” To volunteer call 07730 373433 or email n.westwell@sky.com.
