Around 1,000 people flocked to Rishton for the 12th annual village festival.

Organisers praised festival volunteers and all who attended the event on Saturday, July 4.

One of the festival’s main organisers Christine Hammerton also announced that this would be her last event at the helm.

Christine, who has been helping to organise the event for the past 12 years, said: “The festival was a fantastic success and many people said it was the best yet.

“A big thank you goes out to all who helped out on the day and all who came down and made it such a fantastic day.”

She added: “I have been doing this for 12 years now and the time is right for me to step down and get some younger people involved. I have really enjoyed the event down the years and I will always be here to help organisers.”

Hyndburn MP Graham Jones, who also attended, said: “It was another well organised Rishton Festival with a good turnout for the parade and plenty of stalls. A huge thanks to the organisers.”

Rishton councillor Ken Moss added: “I thought it went really well, it gets bigger every year.”
