Dancing ‘Divas’, Brownies and theatre performers were just some of the attractions at Mount Carmel High School’s Christmas Fair.

Hundreds of people attended the fundraising event organised by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

The fair was supported by the St Mary’s Brownies, Accrington Lions, Divas Dance School and the Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre along with many local traders, charities and crafts people.

A chocolate fountain was provided by Year 11 students to raise money for their leavers prom next year and year 7 pupils held a North Pole coordinates quiz to win a large chocolate hamper.

The school craft club also sold handmade Christmas cards and the design and technology department made tree decorations and cushions and with refreshments from the PTA.

Sue Fielding, partnership manager, said it was an ‘extremely successful’ event and the money will go to projects and resources for the pupils.

She said: “It was great to see how many people came along making it such a special event. Our school choir really brought the festive atmosphere to life with carols and Christmas songs.”
