Wands and witchcraft were the order of the day as youngsters from Huncoat took part in a Harry Potter-style ‘potions class’.
The ‘Huncoat School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’ was opened at Huncoat Children’s Centre in Lynwood Road and children were tasked with making themed potions including the ‘Fizz Whizzer’, ‘Troll Stopper’, ‘Hopping Popper Stoppers’ and ‘Mrs Scours All purpose Putty.’
Laura Myers, of the children’s centre, said: “We had about 20 children from six-months to 10 years old and it lasted 90 minutes.
The first 30 minutes were arts and crafts and they made their own wands, hats, school tie and badge.
“They could also have their face painted as Harry Potter or a witch.
“We then did the messy play potions class with things like baking powder and vinegar and they were given spell names and chants to try out.
“It went really well and all the children had a great time. It was something a bit different and a great experience.”
