Pictures have been released by police showing how a cyclist had a lucky escape after he was in collision with a car.
Officers were called to the roundabout at the junction of the A56 and Blackburn Road at Rising Bridge on the morning of Sunday, August 30.
A police spokesperson said: “The cyclist suffered cuts and bruises but thankfully he was wearing a helmet, which prevented more serious injury.
“As you can see from the photos, the back of the helmet has done its job of absorbing the force of the impact and meant that the cyclist suffered only minor injuries and was discharged from hospital the same day.
“We always recommend that you wear a helmet when cycling. It could save your life.”
