Police are hunting a man recently released from prison after he failed to return to approved premises in Accrington.

Andrew Cross, 30, was jailed for seven years in October 2006 for possessing a handgun and was released in December last year to Probation Trust.

However he failed to return to approved premises on Christmas Eve and has been at large ever since.

Officers believe Cross may have returned to Sheffield where is originally from as he still has family and associates there.

He is described as white, around 5ft 9ins tall and of medium or proportionate build with short blonde hair.

He has a number of tattoos including tribal designs on the left and right sides of his neck.

Detective Inspector Jo Dent said: “While Andrew Cross remains at large there is the possibility that he could pose a risk to members of the public and I would urge anyone who knows where he is or who sees him not to approach him directly but to call the police.

“I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us by calling 101.

“If you are calling from Lancashire please quote log number 913 of February 20.”
