Residents are being invited to share their views over the future of Rishton’s canalside.

A ‘masterplan’ for multi-million pound plans to transform the area is being drawn up by council bosses with aims to create new homes and businesses.

The Observer reported last year how the masterplan will look at developing the canalside areas in a ‘holistic manner’ and will require any future planning applications to compliment each other and ‘be in the best interests of Rishton’s future’.

A ‘public engagement event’ has been organised at Rishton Conservative Club on Cliff Street on Wednesday, February 25 from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.

Visitors will be able to speak to councillors about a range of issues in the masterplan including the future identity of the town, investment opportunities, housing needs and canal access.

The final masterplan is set to be released later this year.
