School children dressed up in rainbow coloured clothes as part of their harvest celebration.

Pupils at St Peter’s primary school in Accrington each paid £1 and raised £210.92 which will be donated to the Bishops Harvest Appeal.

Hyndburn Mayor Marlene Haworth and Mayoress Dorothy Berry attended the school on Cartmel Avenue on Thursday, October 8 along with family members and governors for a special harvest presentation where the children showed off their ‘hard work’.

Staff and 15 students also attended a harvest service at St Peter’s Church on Sunday, October 11 where they sang and presented a selection of poems and prayers to the congregation.

Sarah Warburton, of the school, said: “Every child in the school took part as every class made a presentation in front of the Mayor and Mayoress, parents, governors and members of St Peter’s church.

“Staff and children had also been collecting tins and packet foods which were donated to Accrington food bank.

“The children have worked very hard on this celebration assembly and did a fantastic job for the school. We as staff are very proud of them all.”
