A dog walker was threatened with a knife in a street robbery.

The victim, a 31-year-old man, was walking his pet along a Rishton canal path between High Street and Cutwood Park on Cut Lane when he was approached from behind by two men.

One of them has produced a knife and demanded that the victim, who was listening to music on his grey iPhone 5s, give them his smartphone.

The victim handed over his phone and the offenders have made off, continuing in the direction of Rishton.

Det Sgnt Simon Upton, of Blackburn CID, said: “This appears to have been an isolated incident and I urge anyone with any information about it at all to get in touch.

“Did you see anyone matching these men’s descriptions? Were you in the area at the time? Call us if you think you could help.”

The offender with the knife is described as 6ft 2ins, slim build, clean shaven, with buck teeth and was wearing dark clothing with a hood covering his head. He is thought to have spoken with an Eastern European accent.

The second man who was on a BMX bike and is described as wearing dark clothing and also had his hood up.
