The annual Good Friday interdenominational ‘Stations of the Cross’ walk has taken place in Accrington.

Around 150 people attended the procession up the Coppice with pupils from Mount Carmel and St Christopher’s high schools reading prayers along the path to the summit.

Rev Ian Endicott, from St Paul’s in Accrington, began the service with a prayer and led the congregation with a hymn before all the pupil readers gathered together at the summit around the cross for a final hymn.

Sue Fielding, partnership manager at Mount Carmel High School, said: “Thank you to Year 11 Senior Prefects Sophie, Harry, Robert, Chloe and Lily for representing our school and to the many families and staff who supported this event to mark this important time of the liturgical year.”

The event was organised by the Knights of St. Columba Bernard Holden and Paul Moxham.
