The man who inspired a Hollywood blockbuster starring Al Pacino will perform in Accrington this month.

Steve Tilston was sent a letter by Beatles star John Lennon in 1971, but did not receive it.

In fact, he only found out the letter existed more than 30 years later, in 2005, when the man who bought it at auction contacted him.

When Steve revealed this fact to an interviewer in 2010, the revelation that he missed out on advice (“Being rich doesn’t change your experience in the way you think”) and Lennon’s phone number, was seized upon by Hollywood.

The film Danny Collins was based on Steve’s experience and propelled him into mainstream consciousness.

He even walked down the red carpet with Pacino at the film’s London premiere last year.

Now the folk singer/songwriter, is set to play at Peel Park Hotel on Turkey Street on May 21.

Doors will open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
