A traditional party with songs and balloons was enjoyed during the opening of a new nursery in Accrington.
Local charity Sure Start Hyndburn opened the brand new Little Stars provision at First Steps nursery, on Princess Street, with a party for parents and children.
The families were joined by Hyndburn Mayor, Councillor Munsif Dad, who gave the setting his blessing.
Coun Dad said it provided a great opportunity for local children.
He said: “More and more parents are realising the benefits that nurseries provide. Children learn so much by mixing with others and of course parents meet and make friends too.
“What better way to prepare for school than attending a nursery like First Steps?
“It’s in an ideal location, right in the heart of community and within easy walking distance for many local families.”
Early Years professional, Farah Sangey, will lead the team of experienced staff at the nursery.
She said: “It’s great to see the children bringing the nursery alive, using all the resources provided and making leaps towards independence.”
First Steps provides term time only day care in the afternoon.
It has been supported by a Lancashire County Council initiative to provide more places for two-year-olds. Recent changes mean that even more children are eligible for free 15 hours care a week.
