St Christopher’s CE pupils are celebrating some excellent grades following today’s publication of A Level results.

Megan Taylor, 19, from Accrington, got As in biology, psychology and geography.

Megan said: “I’ve had nightmares for weeks. I as really pleasantly surprised when I saw my results.

“I didn’t get home from Rome until 1am (on results day) which was kind of a blessing in disguise as I didn’t dwell on it too much.

“Some of the exams I came out of a bit upset as I didn’t think they went the way I wanted them to go.”

Megan is now going to study psychology at York University and wants to do a masters and a doctorate.

Claire Smith, 18, from Accrington, got an A* in history and As in art and classics.

She said: “I’m really happy with my history result. I was expecting Bs to be honest.

“I can’t even remember the exams and how they went. I’ve not even thought about the exams since.

“I was so proud. I cried so much this morning. My mum was more worried than me.”

Claire is now planning to study history at St Andrews University.

She added: “I’m going to miss St Christopher’s but I’m ready to move on.”

Lucy Taylor, 18, from Accrington, got an A* in sociology and As in religious studies and performing arts.

She said: “I worked really hard for them but I was not expecting anything like that. I thought I would get Bs but never an A*.

“It’s been very nerve-racking. When I got a call to come in early this morning I didn’t know if I had done really well or bad.”

Lucy is now going to study social work at Manchester Metropolitan University.

She said: “I just need to prepare for uni now.”

William Beavan, 18, from Oswaldtwistle, has got an A in maths, B in chemistry and C in physics.

He said: “Those are the results I predicted but I was only one mark off an A in chemistry.

“I found the exams tough and a step up from last year. This week has been a nerve-racking build up.”

William is now going to study chemical engineering at Lancaster University.

Joe Cockroft, 18, from Burnley, got an A* in Maths and As in further maths and computing and is now going on to Bath University to study Maths.

He said: “I’m really happy and proud. It’s a relief. I did better than I thought. My mum is very proud of me too.

“I want to go to university but I have no plans after that. I want to leave my options open.

“I’ve been at St Christopher’s for the last seven years and really enjoyed my time here.”

Haley Addison, 18, from Burnley, got A*s in English language and history and an A in psychology.

She said: “I wasn’t expecting anything like that. I knew I needed three As but I wasn’t expecting any A*s.

“I put a lot of hard work in over the two years. I thought the exams were really hard.

“My mum and dad are here and are really proud of me. I’ve made a lot of friends here and I’m going to miss them.

She is now going to Newcastle University to study law because ‘she loves arguing’.

Eleanor Gadd, 18, from Higham, got A*s in geography and biology and an A in chemistry.

She said: “I was hoping to get 3 As get to on my uni course but I was not expecting that. I was very surprised and really proud.”

“I put in a lot of work and the exams were okay. I couldn’t really tell how they had gone.”

Eleanor is now going to study medicine at Birmingham University.

She said: “I’m going to miss all the people here but we will stay in touch.”

Bryony Fisher, 18, from Whalley, got As in geography, psychology and religious studies.

She said: “I thought the exams went really badly. I knew before I arrived today I had got into uni but I wanted to know what I got.

“I feel really happy for everyone.”

Bryony said she had applied to Nottingham Trent University to study psychology but is now considering applying to Russell Group universities.
