The Accrington community has been roaring the boys on as they bid to gain automatic promotion to League One.

The Observer has been inundated with messages of support for Stanley as manager John Coleman and assistant Jimmy Bell prepare their men for their penultimate match in League Two.

Reds superfan Ash Seed, from Accrington, has helped to fill seven coaches of supporters for the fixture against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

Fans have donated thousands of pounds to sponsor the coaches, and there are up to 500 fans expected to be travelling to Adams Park at the weekend.

Ash said: “It’s time to make history! Fantastic effort by all concerned with seven coaches headed south to support the Red Men.”

Stanley supporter and England cricket legend David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd tweeted his support for the team.

He said: “Nearly there lads, leave nowt on the field!”

Former Blackburn Rovers and England midfielder David Dunn has also given his support to the team.

Dunn, originally from Great Harwood, said: “What a great season and what a magnificent achievement it would be! John and Jimmy have done a terrific job.”

Seventeen-year-old Blake Barrett is the grandson of Jack Barrett, who is famed for throwing the club a vital lifeline six years after it left the Football League in 1962.

Blake said: “On behalf of the Barrett family and friends, we’d like to wish all of the players and coaches good look for the remaining games, and my grandad, Jack Barrett will be the proudest fan as he watches down to see the Reds go marching on.”

Darren Woodhead, the author of two books about Accrington Stanley, said: “This Stanley team stands on the brink of history, promotion into the third tier of English football.

“Most of us never dreamed we would be in such a good position. Hope the players can get us over the line! On Stanley On!”

Rob Heys, who has worked with the club for many years, said: “Coley, Jimmy and all the lads have done so well this season, and I really hope they can make the final push for promotion to League One.

“They are all a great bunch, and together with the staff and supporters at the club, they deserve this success. The journey continues!”

Fan Joshua Cook, from Accrington, said: “Looking forward to a great day out with a large away contingent on Saturday. I’d like to send the best of luck to the lads as they aim to create another piece of history for our great little club.”

He added: “The men who put us in this position will be looking down smiling.

“Here’s hoping that things go our way and my uncle, brother and I have a moment we’ll never forget in Adams Park. Eyes on the prize boys, two to go.”

Despite many setbacks through the years, fans have never stopped believing in the club.

Ant O Donnell, from Accrington, said: “Good luck Stanley boys. You will do everyone proud no matter what. The future is bright, the future is red.”

Stanley fan ‘through and through’, Nina Day, from Accrington, said: “I want to wish Accrington Stanley all the luck in the world going into the final two games of the season.

“We are on the brink of another historical achievement for our big, little club.”

Young supporter Corey Adams, 17, from Accrington, is also backing the Reds for success in their last two matches.

He said: “Well I’d just like to say I watched Accrington Stanley since I was a young lad going to summer camps through the club and would just like to wish them the best of luck at Wycombe and also at home to Stevenage.

“The last little push now to do an achievement that will change a town for years to come, fantastic season, fantastic team. No money, just the passion and determination you have showed us over this season and nearly at the success now.”

Fan Lee Short, from Accrington, said: “It’s been great following the Reds all this season up and down the country defeating all odds.

“Good luck in this final game, let’s get over the line and promotion to League One where we deserve.”

Supporter Jim Curtis said: “Big good luck wishes to Stanley as they aim to make history in Wycombe. Our time is now.”

Suzie Alway, whose family are all Stanley supporters in Accrington, said: “Wishing all the ASFC boys the best of luck as they close in on promotion on Saturday. We believe!”

Accrington Stanley’s managing director David Burgess wished luck to the team.

He said: “Just two games to go and the dream is still alive. Finish the job and get us to League One."
