A stolen moped has been returned to its ‘grateful and happy owner’ after it was spotted by a member of the public.
The moped, stolen two weeks ago in Clayton-le-Moors, was seen being driven around the area and later recovered in Whitebirk at around 3pm on Wednesday, September 2.
Police said a member of the public attended the station around an hour earlier as they believed the moped was stolen.
Officers later checked and determined the moped had been stolen.
It has now been returned to its owner however the thief has not been identified.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “The vehicle was recovered from an address in the Whitebirk area after extensive enquiries were undertaken by local neighbourhood officers.
"Fortunately the moped has now been returned to a very happy and grateful owner.
“Further enquiries are currently being conducted to try and trace the offenders.”
