A teenage boy was stabbed in the back during a 'large' street brawl in Great Harwood.

The fight happened on Lomax Street and Blackburn Road involving a group of young men aged between 15 and 18.

Police said a 15-year-old suffered minor injuries to his back and is believed to have been caused by a small knife.

Det Insp Nikki Bithell, from Lancashire Police's eastern division CID, is appealing for anyone who witnessed the fight to get in contact.

She said: “There was a disturbance involving a large group of men fighting on Lomax Street and Great Harwood.

“It culminated in one male having a stab wound to his back and receiving minor injuries.

“It was a melee which spilled out into the road and stopped all the traffic.

“We don't have many details and are struggling for independent witness. If anybody did come across the fight then we would be keen to speak to them.”

The incident happened at around 1.45pm on Saturday, September 28.

One man was arrested and questioned and has been released on police bail.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
