A fundraising event for a specialist wheelchair for an 11-year-old girl raised more than £6,000.

Tricky’s pub in Oswaldtwistle was part of an attempt by family and friends of Tiffany Wrigley to raise £4,000 for a wheelchair to help her move around.

Lyndsey Oakes, who helped organise the event, said local businesses had generously donated money and prizes.

Accrington Lions turned up on the night to give their support, along with Tiffany’s dad and some of her family.

She said: “My friend Jake Jackson, Tiffany’s grandad, was overwhelmed with people's generosity. Tiffany has been in hospital on a ventilator for nine months after being diagnosed with a rare neurological condition. We still have money coming in so please if anyone would like to donate please get in touch.”

The former Rishton Primary School pupil is still being treated in Royal Manchester Children's Hospital but hopes to be able to come home later this year.
