Youngsters from Hyndburn are being urged to come up with suggestions to improve their neighbourhood.

Hyndburn Homes and young people’s charity YNOT Aspire are looking for 20 young people aged between 13 and 19 from the borough to join a community youth board.

The scheme, called Your Voice, will start in May and those signed up with be encouraged to put forward their ideas, organise events, and help develop projects to benefit the community.

Wayne Smith, antisocial behaviour officer at Hyndburn Homes, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved and make a difference in their community.

“Not only will they have fun, they will also learn many life skills and work towards a recognised qualification for their CV.”

Sharon Burch, from Ynot Aspire, said they want to give young people a chance to ‘have their voice heard’.

The accredited programme will provide full training and courses and run for at least 12 months with residential trips to Wales and the Lake District this summer.
